It is with sadness that we mark the passing of former Sunderland City Council Leader, Councillor Bob Symonds.
Bob worked hard for our city both as a councillor and as council leader.
He was a proud member of the Labour Party, well known in Castle Ward and a popular figure with many, many people.
Bob was a strong advocate for our city and fought our corner regionally, nationally and internationally.
Our deepest sympathies go to his family.
